Position Summary

Columbia University's Center for Radiological Research is looking for a Laboratory Technician B. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who will be part of a highly supportive close-knit team. The research project relates to the effects of radiation on mice models, with a number of exciting clinical applications.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinating radiation dates and animal ordering.
  • Maintaining mouse colonies – cage changes, monitoring weights, preparing animals for radiation experiments.
  • Collecting samples from mice – blood and tissues.
  • Performing blood cell analysis by flow cytometry.
  • Preparing tissue samples for histological analysis.
  • Assist with ordering lab supplies.
  • Performing additional tasks/duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  
  • Must have general knowledge of molecular and cellular biology.
  • Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some prior experience working with mice or interest in being trained to work with mice.
