The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Department of Neurology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time Secretary B.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing typical medical office administrative duties including but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, scheduling appointments and tests, obtaining results, filing and/or scanning results.
  • Using GE Centricity and EPIC (EMR), Secretary B will check-in/check-out patients that arrive at the practice, verify insurance, collect associated copays and assist physicians in the running the day-to-day front-end operations of a busy practice.
  • Cross cover other medical secretaries as needed.
  • Organize their work and keep track of several different tasks.
  • Work under limited supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience plus a minimum of one to two years related experience. Bachelor's degree desirable.
  • Typing 55-60 WPM.

Other Requirements

  • Must successfully complete training systems requirements.
  • Reporting to and working with the Practice Managers the Secretary B will be detail oriented, able to work under strict deadlines to assist in the completion of tasks related to patient visits including the submission of all charges.
