The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Director of Nursing and Quality Management is responsible for supervising the nursing staff, Medical Assistants, Immunization Coordinator, and Quality Coordinator, ensuring maintenance of the standards of nursing practice at Student Health in our new facility, as well as oversight of the Organization’s Quality Management Program. CUIMC Student Health on Haven is the Primary Healthcare facility for the over 4000 health sciences students at CUIMC. The position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President for CUIMC Student Health on Haven and is an integral part of our leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff, including Medical Assistants, Immunization Coordinator, Quality Coordinator
- Coordinate staffing schedules for nursing and support staff and evaluate for optimal patient flow and scheduling
- Conduct regular Nurse/Medical Assistant staff meetings
- Develop and supervise staff, coordinate new staff orientation, ongoing staff training and evaluate performance of direct reports
- Ensure staff have been trained and maintain competencies for laboratory procedures, including CLIA waived testing
- Establish inventory guidelines, and appropriate maintenance of clinic supplies, clinic formulary, vaccine inventory and establish associated par levels
- Maintain oversight of immunization compliance process for health sciences students
- Collaborate with the Medical Staff to provide effective, efficient, high quality medical care
- Establish and maintain an effective triage system
- Provide direct patient care (20%)
- Provide oversight to Quality Management Committee
- Manage customer service issues and patient feedback
- Work with departments to train and support them to design and implement Quality Improvement initiatives
- Develop, update and edit service-wide policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards
- Oversee AAAHC accreditation and maintenance of achieved standards
- Identify education needs of staff; Plan, coordinate and implement ongoing education
- Investigate associated costs and benefits of in-house laboratory procedures and medications
- Track and analyze important departmental metrics, including utilization and work with individual department leadership to develop relevant metrics
- Participate as a member of the organization’s leadership team
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with NYS license
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing
- At least 4 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an ambulatory care setting, college health experience not required but preferred
- Supervisory experience
- Demonstrated competence in Quality Improvement methodology
