Position Summary

The Meyers Lab is focused on bridging the gap between the development of innovative treatment, prevention, and diagnostic strategies for infectious diseases (e.g. HIV, viral hepatitis, coronaviruses) and their practical implementation. Positioned at the far end of the translational research process, we take innovations from the laboratory and clinical bedside and study how these evidence-based interventions can be successfully implemented at scale across diverse clinical and public health settings. Using mixed-method, interdisciplinary approaches, our goal is to accelerate the adoption of new clinical and public health interventions in providers and patients/end users so that we can maximize the health benefits at the population level. To that end, our lab collaborates with clinics, community-based organizations, government organizations, and other users and stakeholders to implement federally funded studies both internationally and domestically. We believe that engaging stakeholders at all stages of the research is a critical component of our process, leading to practical study design, and findings that are useful to our partners and have public health impact.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to support the Project Director in both the long-term planning and day-to-day implementation of projects and research studies in the Meyers Lab. Primary projects that the Project Manager will support include: 1) a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-funded project to support clinics across the US to accelerate the delivery of a new form of HIV treatment (injectable treatment) in a way that enhances health equity; and 2) a National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded study to develop and pilot test a drug-level monitoring intervention for people who are discontinuing injectable HIV prevention. This full-time employee will join an inter-disciplinary team of dedicated public health researchers and practitioners, working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, committed to improving health outcomes of underserved populations through the introduction of novel bio-behavioral interventions.

Responsibilities

• Develop guidance, resources, and tools necessary to implement high-quality research and real-world projects, meet deadlines, and achieve their goals.
• Create and utilize project management tools to monitor timelines and deliverables for portfolio of grants.
• Carry out day-to-day tasks of managing research studies, including maintaining agendas for meetings, managing shared Outlook calendars, scheduling meetings, organizing shared folders, emailing collaborators, and taking notes during team meetings.
• Work collaboratively and manage relationships with clinical and community research partners, both within the organization and with external stakeholders including at academic institutions and community organizations.
• Prepare progress reports and other project-related documents for funders and regulatory and monitoring bodies (e.g., IRB, data safety monitoring boards).
• Lead the organization of Annual Project Meetings, including traveling to in-person meetings when required.
• Lead vendor onboarding and continuous management, including developing scopes of work, managing multiple bids to identify new vendors, managing vendor onboarding, and tracking invoicing of existing and new vendors.
• Develop visual and written content for project websites.
• Monitor and support participant recruitment and compensation.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, study instrument and protocol development, data analysis, and IRB submissions and modifications.
• Attend seminars, presentations, and workshops on relevant topics; take notes and compile resources; and summarize key findings to team.
• Monitor, review, and summarize new research regarding long-acting HIV treatment and prevention modalities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of education and experience
• Minimum of four years of related project management and/or public health experience
• Strong project management skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to balance multiple competing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and accurately and meet quality standards
• Ability to anticipate and identify problems and collaboratively problem-solving in complex, fast-changing, and interdisciplinary settings 
• Ability to work collaboratively with a culturally diverse staff, strong customer service skills, demonstrating tact and sensitivity in stressful situations
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, adjusting language and style for different contexts
• Ability to work independently and follow-through from idea generation to task completion
• Openness to constructive feedback and motivation to improve and further develop skills
• Flexibility and willingness to change focus and course when the situation requires a new approach
• Skilled with the following Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health
• Spanish speaking
• Experience working in or with clinical settings 
• Lived experience with HIV treatment and/or prevention or experience working with people with lived experience
• Experience with project management and scheduling programs (e.g. Monday, Trello, Asana, Microsoft Teams)
• Experience with statistical, qualitative, data collection and/or data management software (e.g., R, Tableau, SAS, REDCap, Dedoose)
• Experience with health communications and/or marketing
• Experience supporting monitoring and evaluation activities
