  • Salary Range: $77,000-$85,000
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Office of Academic Affairs at the Columbia School of Social Work oversees and manages the curriculum, development of new courses, faculty recruitment and development, grievances related to classroom or faculty issues, exceptions to academic policy, continuing education, and much more. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Academic Affairs for the Columbia School of Social Work (CSSW), the Program Manager for Academic and Faculty Affairs is responsible for various key administrative and operational functions in academic and faculty affairs. The incumbent will ensure adequate curriculum and committee support levels, manage the school committee calendar and CCSW faculty handbook, and oversee the planning and delivery of all department events.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage the first-year roleplay assignment, including establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and community partners, and recruiting and hiring student staff.
  • Partner with CSSW units (e.g., Communications, CUIT, Facilities, Finance) to plan and deliver departmental events and programming successfully.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Professional Excellence (OPE), CSSW divisions, centers, programs, and other institutes within and outside of CSSW to research and develop curricular innovation pilots and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean to administer the Office budget (approximately $35K) for the Schinke Innovation Awards and Fellowships, Grossbard Lectureship, and Hoffman Writing Award.
  • Design, implement, and manage a web-based system for developing and disseminating critical information to stakeholders, including the Monday Calendar.
  • Oversee and manage the operations and communications of the Curriculum Committee. Draft communication on behalf of the Associate Dean.
  • Track decisions and action items across leadership and Curriculum Committee meetings to ensure progress toward accomplishing goals that advance the School’s mission.
  • Collect and synthesize student and faculty data for quality assurance
  • Under the leadership of the Associate Dean, participate in the creation and development of the CSSW Faculty Handbook. Maintain and update the Handbook as appropriate.
  • Under the leadership of the Associate Dean, participate in the creation and development of the CSSW Faculty Canvas site. Oversee the maintenance of the site and ensure that policies and procedures are updated in a timely manner.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience required. A minimum of 3 - 5 years of related experience is required.

  • Must be highly proactive and able to work professionally and diplomatically with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Ability to function independently, supervise and monitor others’ performance, and provide appropriate and timely feedback.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, must be able to deal tactfully and sensitively with a wide variety of people and demonstrate respect for confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer and word processing skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Social Work.
  • Familiarity with social work education and working with social work faculty, students, and administrators.
