Position Summary

Ensures decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and maintenance of all dental, surgical and related instrumentation utilized throughout the College of Dental Medicine (CDM) teaching clinics. Oversee operations for clinical instrument sterilization, including direct supervision of staff.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise the decontamination, cleaning, packaging and sterilizing of instruments used in the provision of dental care including identifying, documenting, and reporting equipment in need of repair as well as organizing and assembling instrument trays.
  • Supervise sterilization staff and area, ensuring adequate coverage across shifts and that procedures are followed as written. Assist Director with refinement, updating, and communication of policies and procedures as needed.
  • Utilizes instrument tracking system and database and confirms that procedures are followed with data entry of the materials.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

**Supervisor, Sterilization will supervise the evening shift, working Monday-Thursday, 3pm-11pm, and Friday, 1pm-9pm, although some occasional variability should be expected.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus two years of related experience.
  • Certification as a Central Service Technician (by an accredited agency, IAHCSMM or CBSPD).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some supervisory experience preferably in a dental environment.
  • Must be hands-on and comfortable with performing routine tasks; organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
