The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Associate Director, the Senior Analyst will support the Clinical Finance team through preparing financial analyses, performing monthly trend analysis of clinical spending, and tracking NYP-funded activity. The Senior Analyst will work collaboratively with CUIMC clinical business development and the clinical analytics teams. Other key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze data used for the financial metric and operational scorecard
- Prepare reports to monitor clinical margin including key drivers related to faculty recruitment, productivity, support staff and OTPS. Establishing key metric, trend data and benchmarks, where available, to analyze results
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reporting, along with the accompanying variance analysis, working jointly with CUIMC, ColumbiaDoctors, and academic budget team
- Assist with tracking and forecasting of the medical and professional service agreements as well as miscellaneous other patient care activities
- In collaboration with the academic budget team, confirm that revenue and expense budget entries are accurate, detailed, and in alignment with schedules and forecasts, prepare variance analysis of patient care revenue and expense lines for senior management
- Assist with the tracking of NYP-funded patient care activities; ensures that departments maintain accurate NYP revenue tracking schedules including reconciliation of passthrough as well as direct and special funds support activities
- Work with Service Corp to monitor benefit spend, other overhead spend and provide financial support as needed
- Work with the clinical departments & MCIC to address questions around medical malpractice coverage and keep the malpractice database current
- Communicate with the financial services team to ensure accurate charging of malpractice across the clinical departments
- Collaborate with CUIMC clinical business development and the analytic team in support of the academic budget office and clinical departments
- Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree, plus a minimum of four years of experience
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a large complex academic medical setting; excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills; ability to analyze and coalesce data from multiple systems and present it in a straightforward format (both financial and narrative); cutting-edge skills with financial systems, including spreadsheet preparation and presentation.
