The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning, the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives serves as a centralized knowledge resource for Columbia Business School’s Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) department and the Centers, Programs and Institutes (CPI) to elevate constituent engagement, philanthropy, and donor stewardship. As a member of the Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) department, this position is the liaison between DAR and CPIs, providing high-level fundraising support and coordination to help CPIs meet their fundraising and engagement objectives. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, analytical, and service-oriented who is comfortable working with multiple stakeholders to support the priorities of Columbia Business School.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with Centers, Programs and Institutes (CPI) staff to understand their respective goals and objectives, and coordinates with Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) staff to connect CPI activity with fundraising and engagement opportunities in alignment with the overall priorities of Columbia Business School.
- Understands the scope and potential of the CPIs as it relates to giving and engagement opportunities, collaborating with DAR development officers to determine strategy donors and prospects connected to CPIs, and helps ensure prospects are engaged and managed efficiently.
- Works closely with DAR Advancement Services and Alumni Relations to create processes to facilitate two-way data and information, for engagement opportunities, funding priorities, and cultivation activity.
- Manage the operations of a CPI engagement calendar, to encompass events and communications, to allow for better transparency and easier coordination on CPI events and communications.
- Assist CPI staff in identifying prospects to further their mission, such potential advisory board members, event speakers, and award honorees.
- Works with gift systems to ensure annual advisory board pledge renewal solicitation processes are monitored and accurately recorded.
- Generates reports to be used to analyze program effectiveness and trends. Maintains donor information and data integrity within database to ensure accurate and timely tracking of CPI activity with donors and prospects.
- Represent DAR at CPI Advisory Board meetings and other events.
