Position Summary

A part-time Technician B position is available in a federally funded lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. We conduct translational research and drug development in the field of hard-to-treat ophthalmic diseases including age-related macular degeneration, Stargardt disease and inherited forms of retinal degeneration.


Responsibilities

  • Manage mouse colony, oversee mouse husbandry, and assist in executing experiments using mouse models of retinal degeneration.
  • Conduct biochemical assays according to established protocols.
  • Support the execution of microbiological experiments involving molecular cloning.
  • Keep detailed records and present collected data effectively.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Require a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Experience with in vitro multi-well assays.
  • Experience with Mammalian cell culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in biochemistry, pharmacology, or any related field.
  • One year of related experience preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in carrying out in vivo experiments in mouse animal models are strongly preferred.
  • Expertise with mouse animal models.
