The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Custodial Operations, the Supervisor will supervise the bargaining unit staff responsible for the cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of a major geographic area of the Medical Center division of the University.
Responsibilities
- The incumbent will also direct the work assignments given to bargaining unit employees; evaluate and rate attendance, punctuality and performance for the purpose of determining continued employability and potential for promotion; administer discipline, provide leadership and counsel to employees; develop and implement training programs for custodial services to determine the programs to meet needs; conduct training courses to improve skills of the work force; and determine the means and methods to be used in accomplishing work assignments. The Supervisor will also estimate the time, cost, manpower, materials, supplies and assignments; inspect assigned area for quality of cleanliness and condition; assess the need for maintenance, repair and improvement for compliance with University standards and report findings to the Assistant Director on a routine basis; performs duties as related to Fire Safety Director certification for Class B / Commercial buildings i.e. be familiar with the building and elements contained on the Building Information Card (BIC), be familiar with the written Fire Safety Plan, respond to building fire alarms and interface with FDNY, participate in building fire and evacuation drills, and management of all related logs and reports.

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus two years of related experience.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Some experience in a lead position or experience as a supervisor.
- Knowledge of building operations and management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work in a complex institutional environment and to think strategically required.
- Candidate must also hold or be able to obtain a valid F-85 Certificate of Fitness as a Fire Safety Director within nine months of employment.
