The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The School of Nursing at Columbia University (New York) seek a talented, highly motivated data manager with a strong data analysis background. Interest and/or knowledge of maternal health and health equity using antiracist approach is preferred. The candidate will lead analyses using questionnaire data from a large, longitudinal cohort study to examine health disparities in adverse pregnancy outcomes. Specifically, we seek to understand how multilevel racism is mediated by epigenomics and is associated with preterm birth.


Responsibilities

  • Database management and analysis, from a large, longitudinal study on pregnancy.
  • Development and preparation of manuscripts and scientific presentations.
  • Managing institutional review board and other reporting duties.
  • Lead analyses using questionnaire data from a large, longitudinal cohort study to examine health disparities in adverse pregnancy outcomes.
  • Maintaining database security, merging, storage, management and cleaning.
  • Ensuring that high quality data and the Integrity of the data are protected.
  • Upgrading of database systems to meet the needs of the research team.
  • Collaborating with and facilitating communication with research team members ranging from senior scientists to students.
  • Assisting with dissemination including the development of original abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Managing the secure acquisition and transfer of research-related data by developing processes for the efficient, secure transfer of encrypted data.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

The candidate will be called upon to present work at national and international research conferences.

This is a grant-funded position and employment is contingent upon continued funding.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent in education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Health Sciences (e.g., Nursing, Public Health, Medicine), social sciences (e.g., gender studies, sociology), Statistics, or a related technical discipline. 
  • Experience analyzing quantitative data in SAS, R or another analytic package.
  • Demonstrated interest in health of pregnant people, reproductive justice, health inequities in the U.S.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • A PhD in Health Sciences (e.g., Nursing, Public Health, Medicine), social sciences (e.g., gender studies, sociology), Statistics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Interest or background in epigenomic analysis, -omics, genetic data analysis.
  • Ability to present findings to a multidisciplinary audience, including manuscript writing and scientific presentations.
