Position Summary
The Technician B position will assist with cell culture, molecular and preclinical animal studies. The position involves processing of primary tissue samples and culture/analysis of cells. The candidate should be motivated to participate in sample processing both from preclinical modeling experiments as well as therapeutic studies. This position affords the motivated technician an opportunity to develop/utilize both tissue culture and molecular biology skills.
Responsibilities
- Husbandry and maintenance of animal colony
- Weekly palpation and ultrasound of study mice
- Necropsy of sick and study mice followed by organoid isolation, 2D cell establishment, biobanking (FFPE, OCT, snap-frozen tissue, cryopreserved tumor pieces, plasma), and histology submission. Update necropsy records accordingly.
- Establish and cryopreserve lab common mouse and human organoid lines
- Prepare and QC Rspondin/Wnt/Noggin conditioned media for organoid culture
- Purchasing and maintenance of lab reagents and instruments
- Monitor and maintain backup supply of all common lab reagents, liquid nitrogen, and office supplies
- Maintain lab inventories of reagents
- Liaise with sales reps and service technicians on pricing and maintenance of lab instruments
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree is required in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with mouse models, in vivo drug administration, cell biology assays e.g. flow cytometry, and/or molecular biology techniques is desired. Previous experience in 3D cell culture.
