The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Research assistant is an individual who will work as a the Taub institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain. This incumbent will specifically function in the field work planned in all years of the investigation and will work with the Principal Investigator and the Project manager in the overall data entry and organization for the research studies, when necessary, the incumbent will insure the transfer of blood to the Human Genetics Resources Core Laboratory at Columbia University. This person will also be trained to conduct cognitive testing.

Please note this is an in-person position 100%.

  • Blood processing (labeling, shipping): 5%
    Case conference reviews preparation: 10%
  • Cognitive testing and participant enrollment: 40%
  • Database maintenance and data entry and reports: 45%

Responsibilities

  • Work with the principal Investigator and project manager to enter data collected. 
  • Complete blood sample processing (labeling, transport to lab and data entry).
  • Assist with enrollment and Cognitive testing of participants.
  • Assist on the database maintenance cleaning.
  • Additional information: will have weekly meeting with the PI to review the work being done as well as a bi-weekly meeting with the project manager to go over day to day activities.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to speak Spanish fluently
  • Ability to determine the progress of data entered and missing.
  • Experience working with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Other Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on different tasks at once and be highly organized.
