The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a full-time Reporting & Financial Analyst. Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the incumbent will track grant-funded activities within the Center. Tasks include, but are not limited to, tracking grant expenses, financial oversight of subcontracts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring expenses are within University and Sponsor guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly PI portfolio financial reports.
  • Monitors and tracks grant expenses continually updating grant financial reports.
  • Reviews expenditures for allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and compliance with University and Sponsor policies and guidelines.
  • Works closely with Associate Director of Finance to ensure salaries are accurately allocated to grants and changes are authorized.
  • Prepares and submits required financial reports to the Gates Foundation and other sponsors ensuring that changes in budget are within sponsor guidelines.
  • Approves purchase orders for large grant expenses including equipment purchases.
  • Provides financial oversight of subcontracts, including review of invoices and approval of payments.
  • Facilitates collection of quarterly expense attestations.
  • Assists with annual effort certification process.
  • Tracks labor schedules and effort commitment for PIs and their personnel.
  • Supports financial activities related to the final closeout of sponsored projects.
  • Monitors expenses on subaward agreements and obtains related financial reports.
  • Works with Department and SPA on communications to sponsors, including no-cost extensions, carryover of funds, and prior approval requests such as equipment and/or reallocation of funds.
  • Ensures compliance with all Sponsors, Federal, and University policies and guidelines.
  • Provides financial analysis as requested by Senior Management.
  • Works with internal Pre-Award team as needed.
  • Prepares journal entries and tracks cash receipts.
  • Reconciles all P-Card transactions and ensures that all chartstrings are correctly charged to the correct project with the proper back up.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience plus four years of related work experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • An undergraduate business degree or the equivalent in directly related experience.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Completion of appropriate training
