Position Summary
The Vasan Lab at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual who possesses experience that can help with daily lab operations. The laboratory specializes in breast cancer, with a particular focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of how kinases and other enzymes regulate breast cancer cell signaling and growth, and therapeutic response. We are particularly interested in translating our findings into the clinic through novel drug inhibitors and biomarker development.
Responsibilities
- Will be responsible for lab and project organization (maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, preparing stock reagents).
- Cell culture work using both cell lines and primary cells.
- Biochemistry work using recombinant proteins.
- Provide assistance and coordination to various lab research projects.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, chemistry, physics, math, computer sciences, or related fields or equivalent in education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques preferred.
- Experience handling and working with small animals is highly desired.
- One year of related experience preferred.
Other Requirements
- Familiarity with biological terminology and techniques.
- Proficient in maintaining well-organized records and adept at collaborating within a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated, with a personal desire to perform experiments well and obtain clear results.
