The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Emerging Technologies, the AI Analyst will be responsible for promoting the adoption and understanding of artificial intelligence technologies across the university. This role involves advocating for the use of AI in various departments, showcasing the benefits and potential of AI applications, and ensuring the university stays at the forefront of using AI technologies in research, teaching and learning and administration.
The Emerging Technologies team is a fast-paced, startup inspired group that develops extremely innovative solutions to some of the most challenging problems in higher education and research.
The ideal candidate will have the following skillset:
- Researcher - You are an intellectually curious individual that is always in 'information gathering' mode. You can drive top-down requests as well as build foundational knowledge that can be used later during presentations.
- Technologist - You will need to build a deep understanding of a broad range of technologies and are able to pick up new technologies quickly.
- Executive Communicator - You must be able to summarize and present information in a concise, yet thorough, manner. Communications vary widely and include formal emails, written papers, ad-hoc technical demos, and formal presentations.
- Project Manager - You will own and drive research investigations and projects to conclusion with little guidance.
The successful candidate will be highly intelligent, insanely curious and have an unbridled thirst for figuring out new technologies, and innovative approaches to solve hard problems.
Responsibilities
- Advocacy and Promotion: Acts as a champion for AI technologies within the university. Educates and informs faculty, staff, and students about the benefits and potentials of AI.
- Collaboration and Networking: Build strong relationships with academic and administrative departments to understand their needs and how AI can meet them.
- Research and Innovation: Stays informed about the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and related fields. Propose and advocate for innovative AI solutions that can benefit the university.
- Trainings, workshops, and events: Develops and conducts workshops, seminars, training sessions and events on AI technologies for various university stakeholders.
- Project Support: Collaborates with project teams across the university to provide expertise and guidance on incorporating AI into their initiatives.
- Public Speaking and Presentation: Represents the Emerging Technologies team and speaks about our work and applications of AI in higher education.
- Content Creation: Develops content such as articles, blog posts, and case studies to highlight our AI initiatives and successes.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.
- Minimum 4-6 years’ related experience.
- 4+ years of experience in a role focused on technology advocacy, AI, or a related area.
- Strong understanding of AI and machine learning technologies.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including teamwork/collaboration, analytical thinking, communication and influencing skills, and technical expertise.
- Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects.
- Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work weekends and off-hour work on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Communications, or a related field.
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience in an academic or research environment.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and conducting training sessions and workshops.
- Strong writing skills with experience in content creation.
- Project management experience.
