The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Cardiac Quality Management Specialist is responsible for maintaining the Columbia HeartSource database for all internal and external regulatory functions – both mandatory and voluntary.  The Cardiac QM Specialist will provide ongoing quality review as determined by the Director of Cardiac Quality Improvement.  Assists with development of reports based on quality indicators.  Maintains relevant and timely statistics, reports and identifies opportunities for quality improvement, supporting the quality management team.  Assists with educational support of assigned affiliate hospitals as needed. Facilitates the development and effective functioning of a multidisciplinary quality improvement team.  Reports to the Director of Cardiac Quality Improvement for Columbia HeartSource.


Responsibilities

  • Performs concurrent and retrospective medical chart review as required.
  • Provides regular data review summaries to the Director of Quality Improvement.
  • Ensures that review activities are conducted on a timely basis.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of a variety of performance improvement activities, focus studies and action plans.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Cardiac Quality Improvement, tracks and trends quality indicators established by the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Departments, the STS, the ACC, the NQF and other pertinent professional organizations or initiatives.
  • Supports sites in validation of data files and facilitates timely reporting with all mandatory and voluntary harvest schedule in mind.
  • Demonstrates quality improvement principles in daily work.
  • Becomes an expert in the data elements, definitions and specifications of registries assigned to support.
  • Provides data in a timely fashion, supporting report development as needed.
  • Coordinates all quality improvement activities with the appropriate designee of Columbia HeartSource team.
  • Collects, maintains and reports statistics as assigned.
  • Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, addresses issues in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Develops effective communication and relationships with all members of the continuous quality improvement team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in education and 4 yrs relevant experience.
  • Require RN with current licensure as a Registered Nurse.

  • Ability to perform comprehensive assessments of nursing staffing patterns
  • Demonstrate leadership ability to manage relationship and interact effectively with peers, clinical and non-clinical team members.
  • Microsoft office suite, EMR proficient
