The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
As a member of the Access Services department, the Library Assistant V will provide library service and assistance at Butler Library’s circulation and library information service points during regularly scheduled shifts and other shifts as assigned. This position splits time equally between the Library Information Office and the Butler Library circulation desk.
Schedule:
Tuesday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service at the circulation desk via email, phone, and in-person to faculty, students, staff, administrators, and visitors in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide customer service in the Library Information Office via email, phone, and in-person to faculty, students, staff, administrators, and visitors in a fast-paced environment.
- Process daily deliveries of library materials.
- Open and close Library Information Office, circulation, reading rooms, public staff areas, and staff areas.
- Assign, revise, and train general assistants (student employees).
- Using faculty-provided course reserves lists, process print, electronic, and media collections for course reserves.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma and/or its equivalent and six months relevant experience required
- Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive) products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to recognize needs and prioritize identified tasks
- Ability to interact with a diverse group of colleagues and library users
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous experience in academic libraries
- Experience using Voyager or other library management systems
