The variable hours officer will act as editor of The Owl, the annual alumni magazine of the School of General Studies (GS), the University’s undergraduate college dedicated to serving nontraditional students. The Owl, which has a circulation of more than 25K and a digital version made available on the GS website, comprises long-form feature stories, alumni profiles, and coverage of current and graduating student activities, all aimed at keeping our audience of alumni, family members, and friends of the School connected to GS and the University. In this role, the variable hours officer will oversee all aspects of production—planning, coordinating, writing, editing, reviewing, and finalizing content; provide project management, art direction, creative management, and supervision of freelance contributors; and work on and/or coordinate related projects as needed.
