An exciting Perioperative Clinical Outcomes Data Analyst position is available at the Department of Anesthesiology, Columbia University Medical Center. The Department conducts a variety of clinical research studies in the field of perioperative organ dysfunction and outcomes including cardiopulmonary, vascular and neurological dysfunction, and currently leads a major NIH-funded multicenter study on the reduction of postoperative pulmonary complications utilizing a combination of pre-, intra-, and postoperative interventions. Other areas including cardiothoracic anesthesiology, transplants and advanced cardiopulmonary monitoring are also fields in expansion.
The candidate will work with a team of investigators under the general supervision of Dr. Vidal Melo, and will pursue projects guided at: (a) analysis and publication of current data on postoperative pulmonary outcomes of patients undergoing major abdominal surgery, (b) preparation of grants for future funding, (c) design and support of clinical outcome analyses based on registry data, extracting data from existing electronic medical records (e.g., Epic). Implementation of designed analyses, advancing to scientific discussions, presentations in meetings, preparation and submission of full papers are simultaneously goals and expectations for the position. The data analyst will interact with a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional team of anesthesiologists, surgeons, statisticians, residents, and fellows. |
