The position of Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies oversees undergraduate academic affairs and teaching excellence for RSECS. This role serves as part of the RSECS Executive Committee and works closely with Dean’s office staff, department chairs, program directors, and department coordinators. The position also interacts with departments across the university, including financial aid, admissions, student advising, and more to improve the undergraduate student experience. The job includes supervising the RSECS Student Services Coordinator. This is a one-year appointment.

Essential Functions

Student Support

  • RSECS contact and coordinator for first-time student advising and registration and primary contact for academic advising programming including addressing concerns and questions from the central office of Academic Advising
  • Contact for any Student Services initiatives such as SDS outreach, Honors/Distinction, Student Affairs Events, etc.
  • Oversees undergraduate recruitment within RSECS including attending and presenting at all admission events (in person and virtual) and serving as a point of contact for the admissions office
  • Point of contact for student grievances including grade appeals, course concerns, etc.
  • Serves on any relevant university wide committees such as Undergraduate Council and Academic Standards
  • Supervises the Student Services Coordinator

Teaching and Learning

  • Serves as Director of Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP) Program
  • Oversees RSECS Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) Involvement
  • Develops and implements professional development opportunities for faculty
  • Oversees assessment, including Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current faculty member at the University of Denver’s Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science
  • Experience with Undergraduate recruitment and Student Admissions is desirable
  • Demonstrated interest in student wellbeing and passion for working with undergraduate students

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule

The University’s administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Work schedule may vary.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
The rate for this position is $30,810.
