Position Summary

In addition to the LEP Tutor position, Lead Tutors are responsible for the oversight of a small group of LEP Tutors. Lead Tutors are experienced LEP Tutors who aim to help new tutors become comfortable working in LEP and help them become more effective tutors by answering questions, providing support and access to tutoring resources, and creating a positive LEP tutoring community. This role will also support the LEP Tutoring Coordinator in Administrative tasks, email maintenance, as well as leading and facilitating CRLA Tutor Trainings and meetings throughout the school year.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

In addition to performing the duties and meeting expectations listed in the LEP Tutor Job Description, Lead Tutors are expected to do the following:

  • Proactively communicate with the Tutoring Coordinator concerning tutors and issues.
  • Act as a positive role model for LEP Tutors.
  • Communicate with Lead Tutor group throughout academic year to answer questions, comments, and concerns and provide support.
  • Act as the first contact for all tutors concerning questions about Accudemia, student concerns, general questions, and tutoring issues.
  • Work up to 3 hours every pay period completing administrative work.
    • Maintain LEPtutoring@du.edu email
    • Verify that for every appointment, there is a Tutoring Assessment from both Tutor.
      • Verify that Tutors have filled out assessments for all appointments
  • Meet each quarter with the Tutoring Coordinator as requested or needed.
  • Be a part of the Tutor observation and evaluation process.
  • Support the LEP Tutoring Coordinator in Administrative tasks, Accudemia maintenance and monitoring, as well as leading and facilitating CRLA Tutor Trainings and tutor meetings as needed.
  • Additional LEP Tutoring administrative tasks as required by Tutoring Coordinator.

  • Must be self-motivated and the ability to motivate others

Required Qualifications

  • Tutors must meet the requirements listed for the LEP Tutor Job Description
  • Must be a current LEP Tutor in order to apply.
  • Must have worked as an LEP Tutor for at least one full academic year
  • Must be able to work in-person events, meetings, and trainings

Hourly Rate

The hourly range for this position is $21.25.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
