Department Summary

The Leadership Studies Program at the University of Denver promotes inclusive leadership through intellectual engagement, personal development, collaborative problem-solving and community engaged learning. We provide a multidisciplinary and comprehensive academic program preparing undergraduate students for the responsibilities and challenges of leadership in the diverse and complex world of the 21st Century. The program advances students’ understanding of self as leader/follower, leadership theory and research, interpersonal skills and competencies that support inclusive leadership effectiveness, a more fully developed code of personal and organizational ethics, and an enhanced sense of social responsibility and citizenship.

Position Summary

Leadership Studies offers several 2-credit courses throughout the academic year. These classes meet once weekly for 110 minutes with roughly 25 students and may include required or elective courses. The topics explored range from the job and internship search, to leadership theory and application. These courses are typically offered in winter and spring quarters.

Essential Functions

  • Meet with students for 110 minutes per week for one quarter
  • Deliver an appropriate learning experience on a leadership topic

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expertise in the field of study
  • Record of excellent teaching

Required Qualifications

  • MA/MS in a relevant discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant discipline

Work Schedule

While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Course Rate

The compensation will be $2,530 for the two-credit course.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
