Position Summary

This position reports to the Director of Registration & Records and works closely with the Director and other Law Registrar staff to ensure successful administration in the following areas: anonymous grade entry, degree evaluation, degree conferral, and coordination of awarding and dissemination of credentials. Credentials include electronic microcredentials, academic certificates and diplomas.  This role enforces institutional standards and best practices but works in consultation with Director to interpret acceptable variations from policy to appropriately resolve issues as they arise.

Additionally, the Grading, Degree Evaluation, and Credentialing Specialist acts as a service representative for students on a variety of academic issues, and supports other law registrar colleagues, as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates students’ progress towards degree and academic certificate completion and certifies/posts completed degrees. Works with students and other academic departments, as needed, to remedy outstanding requirements or to notify students that do not meet degree requirements of graduation status. 
  • Collects student data for the commencement program each graduation period (May & December) and manages ordering certificates, diplomas, and issuing micro-credentials.
  • Assists the Director and Exam Coordinator in the administration of all exams (final and midterm) for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters including filling in as an exam proctor, as needed, during peak exam periods.
  • Stays apprised of all grading policies, including non-JD program policies and assists Director with grade entry upon receipt of final grades from faculty, including ensuring that final grades meet curve requirements and that grades remain anonymous throughout grading process. Distributes Scholastic Excellence (highest grade) notifications.
  • Assists Director in processing transfer credit for transfer JD students, summer abroad programs and visiting students.
  • Assists in ensuring all student petitions and requests for exceptions are completed and disseminated in a timely manner.
  • Provides general support to Registrar’s Office, as needed, including but not limited to--assisting with front-line student service, registering students for limited enrollment processing registration, add/drop requests, and withdrawal forms in accordance with University policy and best practices.
  • Works with Registrar colleagues to ensure student files are maintained according to FERPA requirements and University retention guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to routinely manage highly sensitive information related to degree progress and personal issues. Must exhibit independent judgement and maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in a Registrar’s Office, Admissions Office or similar setting.
  • Must have a flexible schedule during busy exam periods (May and December).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of work experience in an academic setting.
  • Previous experience at an accredited law school or in a Registrar’s Office.
  • Experience using Banner.

Work Schedule

M-F 8:30am - 5:00pm, with some weekend hours required in support of students in the Professional Part-time JD program. Evening and weekend hours also required during exam periods.  

In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for this position is $26.05 - $29.63

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
