Position Summary
The Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver seeks an experienced Office Manager to serve the Marketing and Management Departments. The Office Manager works closely with the chairs of the Marketing and Management Departments and the directors of the centers to support the departments’ research, teaching, and revenue goals. This position will perform a variety of advanced office management tasks unique to these departments, requiring initiative and independent judgment. The Office Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Management Departments, located on the 4th floor of the Daniels College of Business. This position will also assist with events and initiatives for the Sales Leadership Center (SLC) and the Consumer Insights and Business Innovation Center (CiBiC). This position provides excellent service to students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to those from historically underrepresented and/or marginalized communities.
Essential Functions
- Overseeing operations for the Marketing and Management departments, ensuring effective workflow, communication, and task execution.
- Collaborating with department chairs, center directors, and the finance team to develop strategic plans, allocate resources, monitor budgets, and ensure compliance with policies.
- Supervising faculty recruitment (full-time, part-time, adjunct) and managing student employees, including hiring, payment setup, task management, and reporting.
- Providing administrative support for budgeting, requisitions, invoices, contracts, and expense reports for the departments, Sales
- Leadership Center, and Consumer Insights and Business Innovation Center.
- Organizing and coordinating departmental events, such as orientations, alumni relations, graduation ceremonies, symposiums, workshops, and faculty-student engagements.
- Managing office supplies inventory and coordinating with vendors for equipment purchases and maintenance for both departments.
- Coordinating and facilitating activities for student clubs, including DUMC, Management Club, Consulting Club, Human Resource Club, and Sigma Iota Epsilon.
- Scheduling and managing events and meetings for the Sales Leadership Center and the Consumer Insights and Business Innovation Center.
- Organizing and maintaining both physical and electronic files by business function, curriculum, and faculty member.
Supporting operations for travel courses, including SXSW, KMC course trips, and CES, as well as MS MKTG and MS MGMT program activities.
- Assisting in managing events for MS MKTG and MS MGMT programs, including orientation, immersion courses, celebrations, and graduation receptions.
- Coordinating the MS MGMT programs Experiential Learning trips, including logistics for travel, lodging, and activities.
- Collaborating with Daniels Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) to maintain and update department and faculty research content and handle inquiries.
- Monitoring and reconciling departmental and program budgets, including those for Marketing, Management, MS MKTG, MS MGMT programs, student clubs, and centers.
- Processing invoices, requisitions, purchase orders, and expense reports, and preparing personnel and payroll forms for student employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with organizational policies and compliance standards, especially in an academic or departmental setting.
- Knowledge of managing office supplies inventory, vendor relations, and purchasing of equipment and services.
- Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including department chairs, directors, finance teams, and student organizations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to accurately monitor budgets, track expenses, and ensure that records (financial or administrative) are maintained and organized.
- Handling a variety of administrative, management, and operational duties simultaneously without compromising quality or deadlines.
- Ability to respond to inquiries and issues from faculty, staff, and students in a helpful and professional manner.
- Ability to work in a diverse academic environment and engage with people from a variety of backgrounds respectfully and effectively.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 3 years of experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree
- 5+ years of experience in managing operations
- Experience working in a higher education setting
- Experience with project management
- Experience with budgeting and financial management
- Outstanding business, professional, and/or academic/technical writing skills preferred
- Sufficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, as well as Canvas, Concur, and SCT Banner.
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures

- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions often occur, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $27.00 - $29.63.
