The Morgridge College of Education invites expressions of interest from faculty to serve in the role of Associate Dean of Research. This is a leadership role focused on enhancing the college’s research culture and supporting colleagues in the grant process.

Position Summary

The Associate Dean of Research will serve as a resource and strategic guide for faculty pursuing internal and external funding. The position aims to build capacity in grantsmaking and support the college’s research mission by working collaboratively with individual faculty, the Dean’s Office, and relevant campus partners.

Essential Functions

  • Provide Individual Faculty Support
  • Chair of the Flowback Committee
  • Serve on the Research Support Committee
  • Meet one-on-one with faculty to develop personalized grant development plans with clear goals and deliverables.
    • Identify grants for faculty to pursue based on their disciplinary interests/ research
    • Provide feedback and guidance on proposal components, such as aims pages and methodological sections.
    • Identify skill-building needs and direct faculty to appropriate support resources.
  • Engage in Capacity Building and Strategic Planning in collaboration with the Dean and relevant stakeholders
    • Lead and/or co-create individual and group training sessions on key grantmaking topics.
    • Develop and share templates and examples of required proposal documents.
  • Participate in Institutional Alignment and Collaboration
    • Coordinate efforts with the Dean’s Office, Budget Office, ORSP, Advancement, and other units.
    • Facilitate interdisciplinary and cross-campus grant collaborations.
      Participate in discussions on college-wide grant strategy and priorities.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
The salary rate for this position is $20,000
