Human Resources and Inclusive Community (HRIC) at the University of Denver is led by the Vice Chancellor of HRIC who reports directly to the CFO. The HRIC Department is responsible for developing and delivering a broad range of services in support of the University’s mission, vision, and strategies. The HRIC Department is evolving from a traditional operational and service orientation into a highly effective strategic unit advancing the broader strategic aims of the University.

In support of this evolution, the University is seeking an Employee Experience Coordinator who will be responsible This role supports the University’s aim to attract, engage, and develop a diverse and world-class faculty and staff population with its comprehensive employee development resources, practices, and programs.

This role serves as part of the University’s HRIC team, reporting to the Director of People Development. The Employee Experience Coordinator/Manager is an individual who thrives being collaborative, builder of processes and systems, applied experience using learning management platforms, to lead initiatives to engage and retain DU faculty and staff during the employee life cycle from recruiting, onboarding, development initiatives and transition.

Position Summary

The Employee Well Being and Engagement Manager fosters a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace at the University of Denver (DU). Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition & Development, this role designs, implements, and evaluates programs that strengthen employee well being, engagement, and retention across the employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding through development and offboarding.

Working collaboratively with HRIC colleagues and campus partners—including the Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness & Recreation Division (KMCWR)—the manager delivers cohesive, data driven initiatives that reflect the employee voice and advance DU’s people centered goals.

Essential Functions

  • Design & Lead Programs: Create, implement, and continuously improve engagement, well being, and retention programs that support employees at every stage of their DU journey.
  • Onboarding & First Year Experience: Own pre orientation, orientation, and first year follow up communications to ensure a seamless new hire experience.
  • Data Driven Insights: Leverage employee feedback, stay/exit interviews, survey data, and engagement metrics to identify opportunities and measure program impact.
  • Leadership Assessments: Manage the Manager Skillscope 360 Review process (Center for Creative Leadership) and oversee assessment based development programs such as StrengthsFinder.
  • Health & Wellness Analytics: Partner with Benefits to analyze insurance claims, absenteeism, and related data to inform wellness strategies.
  • Communications & Culture: Coordinate proactive communications that promote belonging, inclusion, and DU’s employee value proposition.
  • Program Administration: Lead or administer key well being programs, including:
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    • Cigna MotivateMe
    • Pregnancy, Lactation & Family Resources
    • Employee Discounts
    • Flu Shot Clinics
  • Inbox Management: Monitor and manage the Well@DU email inbox to ensure timely, supportive communication with employees regarding well-being and engagement resources.
  • Wellness Funds & Events: Collaborate on annual planning and spending of Cigna and Kaiser wellness funds (~$50,000/year) and lead quarterly engagement events:
    • Fall: Crimson Classic (with Kaiser) – This will be a collaboration with other HR staff as well as with KMCWR staff with the intention of handing the event over to them in 2026.
    • Winter: Benefits Fair & Well Being Event
    • Spring: Well Being Keynote Lunch
    • Summer: Faculty & Staff Day at the Kennedy Mountain Campus
  • Innovation & Pilots: Pilot new initiatives and craft

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Expertise in employee well being, engagement, and behavior change strategies.
  • Experience with learning management systems and virtual/hybrid program delivery
  • Project and budget management proficiency
  • Effective interpersonal skills across all organizational levels

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education, health promotion, public health, human resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in employee engagement, workplace wellness, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated success leading institution wide initiatives and events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
  • Strong event planning and communications development skills

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 11.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
