The mission of the DU Health & Counseling Center (“the HCC”, www.du.edu/hcc) is to enhance overall student well-being and success through inclusive physical and mental healthcare, prevention, education, advocacy, and recovery support services. Among its six departments, the HCC includes an on-campus medical and counseling clinic open 8am-5pm M-F, with evening hours until 7pm two evenings a week when quarter classes are in session. The HCC offers confidential medical care, mental health counseling, and psychiatric services designed to help students with mental health concerns that may be affecting their quality of life and ability to learn. Our providers include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners from diverse cultural and clinical backgrounds. The Administrative department is responsible for non-clinical operations at the HCC. Responsible for front line customer support and service, insurance and health fee programs, facility and financial operations, budget, planning, and forecasting, and departmental HR, this department supports the other HCC areas to achieve their mission. Working interactively and in a cross-trained nature, this group of staff strive to provide the highest level of care to our students through purposeful efficient and effective operations.

Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager, Strategic Initiatives & Support Well-being plays a vital leadership role in shaping and advancing a campus-wide culture of student and staff wellness at the University. This position bridges strategic planning, student experience, and institutional collaboration to champion integrated approaches to physical, emotional, and organizational well-being.
Serving within the Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence (SAIE) division and in close partnership with the Health and Counseling Center (HCC) and the 4D Student Experience team, this role leads divisional initiatives that support holistic student development, character exploration, and coordinated wellness programming. The strategist also plays a key role in developing and implementing the university’s well-being strategy, aligning services and support across academic and administrative departments.
In addition to advancing long-term strategic goals, the position provides high-level leadership in project planning, assessment, and resource development. The strategist ensures student voice and feedback are central to programming, facilitates key advisory committees such as the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC), and actively contributes to university-wide planning, crisis response, and wellness committees. The position also supports HCC operational leadership through project oversight, internal communication planning, and staff-related HR processes.
This is a collaborative, forward-thinking role ideal for a strategic planner with a deep understanding of student development, health promotion, cross-functional coordination, and data-informed decision-making.
Essential Functions
Student Wellness Responsibilities (30%)
- Coordinate SAIE divisional efforts to enhance student well-being
- Align work across the division with efforts led by the HCC and 4D teams
- Connect programs, resources, and support to the 4D Student Experience
- Engage in research on best practices with character exploration and well-being for undergraduate and graduate students
- Collaborate with the 4D Experience team to develop and coordinate the integrated programming of character and well-being on behalf of SAIE
- Elicit feedback and engage student voices from across campus in the planning
- Work with the 4D Experience team, the SAIE Director of Assessment & Planning, and other stakeholders to develop and execute assessment of learning outcomes for the character and well-being dimensions
- Serve on the 4D steering committee to plan and coordinate integrated programming
- Establish and convene the Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC)
Strategic Wellbeing Planning and Implementation (30%)
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, campus-wide strategy for student and SAIE staff health and well-being, integrating physical, mental, and organizational wellness initiatives.
- Serve as the chief architect for the HCC’s well-being vision, ensuring alignment with university-wide goals and the evolving needs of the campus community.
- Lead the identification of gaps, redundancies, and opportunities in health and counseling services, using data and stakeholder input to guide continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the HCC and university leadership, academic departments, student affairs, and external health partners to ensure integrated, holistic support for the campus community.
- Lead and participate in university-wide committees, crisis response teams, and strategic planning groups to advocate for health and counseling priorities and resources.
- Cultivate partnerships with local and regional health organizations to expand resources, referrals, and collaborative programming.
- Direct the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to health and counseling service utilization, program outcomes, and campus health trends.
- Use data to inform strategic decisions, allocate resources efficiently, and demonstrate the impact of HCC initiatives to university stakeholders.
- Lead grant writing and external funding efforts to support innovative health and wellness projects.
Special Projects and HCC Leadership Planning & Support (25%)
- In consultation with the Executive Director, lead planning and execution of HCC weekly leadership team meetings
- Monitor and manage special projects, as assigned by the HCC Executive Director
- Develop reports, proposals, and presentations using a variety of programs (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.)
Other (15%)
- Human Resources and Staff Support
- Assists in coordinating end-to-end HR processes for all HCC personnel, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and compliance, ensuring seamless integration with DU HR and legal departments.
- Maintains and updates HCC’s HR documentation, including training records, certification logs, job descriptions, and organizational charts.
- Facilitates interview logistics, candidate travel, and new staff orientation to support a professional and welcoming experience.
- As needed:
- Partner with SAIE staff in Assessment and Planning, Strategy and Communication, 4D Experience, and Business Operations and Division Resources to support divisional communication and programming
- Serve on and, in some cases, convene divisional committees and working groups, particularly on matters related to student health, staff development and well-being, and employee onboarding and recognition
- Additional duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational skills.

Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in public health, education, or related field and 5+ years’ experience in:
- Project management and program development
- Developing and implementing well-being programs and initiatives
- Assessment practices and implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in health / counseling environments
- At least one year of academic/higher education experience
- Familiarity with student development and culture change theories
- Terminal degree in a related field
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.

Work Schedule
This position requires employees to work onsite 8:00am-5:00pm M-F with occasional evening, weekends, and holiday shifts.

Salary Grade Number

Salary Rate
The salary rate for this position is $95,000.
