The Daniels College of Business (DCB) offers a variety of baccalaureate, graduate, PhD and certificate programs which are detailed at https://daniels.du.edu/ Position Summary The Daniels College of Business seeks a strategic, analytical, and student-centered Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Operations to lead the administration and awarding of graduate and undergraduate endowed scholarships, manage the Graduate Assistant program, and support key finance and business operations within the Office of the Dean. This role serves as the primary resource for students navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities, while also contributing to the Colleges long-term financial planning and operational efficiency.The successful candidate will join a collaborative and dedicated team of financial, administrative, and student affairs professionals, working cross-functionally with Graduate Admissions, University Financial Aid, Advancement, and College leadership. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student access, recruitment, and retention through thoughtful scholarship strategy and sound financial stewardship.The Assistant Director reports to the Associate Dean of Finance and Business Operations. Essential Functions Scholarship and Financial Aid Oversee the disbursement and management of all graduate gift and endowed scholarships in collaboration with various Department Chairs, Program Directors, Graduate Admissions, and members of the Daniels Advancement team. Collaborate heavily with the University Financial Aid team to award undergraduate business scholarships during the admission cycle from February to June. Collaborate with Daniels Graduate Admissions on backend processes related to merit scholarship disbursement, including but not limited to, inputting student awards into Banner, tracking award acceptance, and reviewing merit and need qualification of students. Serve as the key point of contact for students regarding financial aid questions, creating individualized scholarship disbursement plans, and general scholarship related advising. Supporting Daniels Career Services and Centers of Excellence with experiential learning and internship funding for students. Collaborating with Daniels Advancement of fundraising related reporting and scholarship audits. Graduate Assistant (GA) Program Support the DCB Graduate Assistant Selection Committee to process and match eligible students with departments/offices seeking GAs. Hire and request background checks for GAs quarterly, track stipends and GA waivers, and execute payroll for hourly student employees. Supervise, create schedules, and resolve conflicts with GAs, faculty, and/or staff related to the position. Finance and Business Operations Create and manage graduate gift and endowed scholarship budgets. Conduct and analyze quarterly graduate discount and scholarship forecasts to meet targets, identify areas of improvement, and support long-term financial goals. Assist in creating scholarship use strategies to support student recruitment and retention, and lower burden on revenue streams by analyzing current and expected scholarship use. Prepare, review, and process journal entries related to operations and departmental fund reconciliation as needed. Maintain and update financial aid procedures and policies, and distribute timely notices of changes, updated practices or needed reminders on policies. Assist AD of Finance with scholarships and discounts tracking, forecasting and budgeting. Assist with resolving any budget-related issues. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate ability to review and analyze information, think critically, problem-solve, and make sound recommendations. Demonstrated ability to analyze and update processes to maximize efficiency and impact. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to key stakeholders such as donors and College Leadership. Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and effectively manage multiple assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining adherence to deadlines. Effective computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, common databases and CRM systems. Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality Must be able to interact positively with students, families, and other University constituents. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, data analytics, or related subjects. Expertise in MS Office Suite. At least two years experience in higher education finance, student affairs, and data analysis responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in accounting, finance, data analytics, or related subjects. Experience in non-profit accounting with budgetary and analysis responsibilities. Experience with Banner and Ellucian CRMs. Experience in financial aid administration. Working Environment Standard office environment. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high. Noise level is quiet to moderate. Physical Activities Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus. Work ScheduleMonday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position is approved for full remote work. The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
