About the role
Our Children’s Crossing Supervisors hold a much-valued role in our community, helping students and parents cross the road safely during peak school times. It is a great way to stay active, connect with and be a part of the Geelong community.
As a Children’s Crossing Supervisor, you will be required to supervise one of the 189 crossings within the City of Greater Geelong. The crossings operate Monday to Friday morning and afternoon, shifts vary from 30 to 45 mins to 1 hour in the morning and afternoon, depending on the crossing. As a casual, your shifts will vary depending on availability with a minimum of 15 hours per fortnight. You will ideally have availability both morning and afternoon across the week.
Casual positions are available in the Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads areas. Please only apply if you reside in these suburbs.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Provide supervision and education to ensure the safety of children and all members of the public using children’s crossings.
- Follow set procedures, guidelines, and OH&S processes.
- Undertake all duties in a manner which promotes effective teamwork and high-quality customer service.
- Report OH&S issues, Children’s Crossing maintenance issues and traffic and parking offences.
You will undertake an induction and training prior to commencing in the role and will be supported with ongoing training throughout the year.
About you
To be successful for this position, you will have the ability to interact and communicate clearly with a friendly approach to all members of the public. You will need to be reliable and able to supervise the crossing during the morning and afternoon shift Monday - Friday on designated school days. Casual roles may require you to work at a variety of crossings however a travel allowance both to and from the crossing will be paid should you be required to travel more than 10km from your home.
Conditions of Employment:
- Meet pre-employment medical and functional assessment requirements including a mobility, audiometry and drug and alcohol test.
- Hold a Valid Working with Children’s Check (not required prior to employment)
- Preferred candidates will be required to complete a National Police Check (initiated and paid for by the City)
