About the role:
In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in respect to civil engineering designs and specifications. You will provide guidance and advice to members of the Design & Services team, along with providing efficient and effective service delivery across the Engineering department, undertake Engineering investigations and design work and perform various administrative functions. You will be involved in the design of roads, footpaths and drainage of existing urban areas throughout the Geelong municipality, along with the surveying and scoping of locations, the identification of appropriate materials and providing cost estimations for projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Produce civil engineering designs and specifications that comply with standards and good practice, are accurate and are innovative in concept yet cost efficient in their design production and construction.
- Investigation of various infrastructure, drainage and traffic related issues.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Civil Engineer with experience in the Design sector. You will require knowledge of current Engineering concepts, the ability to interpret standards and a willingness to learn and adapt in a changing environment. You will be able to think outside the box to troubleshoot and problem solve issues and have a high level of attention to detail.
Essential Experience:
- Substantial experience in road and drainage design using current principles and standards.
- Experience in Traffic Engineering Design and Engineering investigation work.
- Technical drafting skills including and proficient use of AutoCAD and Civil Site Design.
- Drainage modelling experience using DRAINS.
- Act as a mentor to Design Engineers and Technical Officers in the team, including supervision of work.
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering is essential, specialising in civil design principles and practices enabling certification as a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
