About the role
In this role, you will support the delivery of planning and infrastructure for new communities in line with strategic plans, manage and support the implementation of growth area and urban renewal projects, and help deliver the City’s planning vision through the application of developer contributions. You will also provide informed advice grounded in research, analysis, and a sound understanding of current planning policies, trends, legislation, and controls.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and action projects that ensure the City’s new communities are delivered in an orderly and timely manner in accordance with strategic plans, relevant legislation, Council Policies and Procedures.
- Implement strategic plans, precinct structure plans, developer contribution plans, guidelines, policies and planning scheme amendments to enable development in greenfield and urban renewal areas.
- Guide and assist council units and state government agencies and departments, who are responsible for the infrastructure delivery in the City’s urban growth and renewal areas.
- Provide professional advice and expertise which ensures strategic planning visions and objectives are achieved as part of the development of urban growth and renewal areas.
- Represent the Planning & Growth Unit on internal and external groups as required.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and agencies to ensure effective project delivery, coordination and support.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications in strategic or statutory planning, project management, infrastructure development, property development or related field.
Essential Experience:
- Substantial experience in projects or programs which enable the delivery of new communities in both greenfield and urban renewal contexts.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills including negotiation and mediation skills.
- Knowledge of planning legislation, practices and techniques relating to greenfield and urban renewal development.
- Strong conceptual skills with experience in conducting research, analysing data and synthesising results to inform the development of new communities.
- Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage own time to achieve targets within a set timeline.
