About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Programs Team Lead to join our team and oversee the daily operations of our leisure programs. In this position, you will provide leadership to a diverse team of instructors and coaches, ensuring a clean, safe, and customer-friendly environment. Working closely with the Programs Coordinator, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, safe, and customer-focused programs. You will also play a key role in the administrative management of stadium bookings, invoicing, and staff scheduling (including being Duty Manager when required). This role may include shifts such as early mornings, evenings, and some weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of program instructors and coaches, including gym staff, Group Exercise Instructors, LiveWell instructors (for older adults), gymnastic, and soccer coaches, to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Assist in developing and managing staff rosters to ensure all programming needs are covered.
  • Provide administrative support to the Programs Coordinator for programming and operational tasks.
  • Foster a positive program culture and ensure program rules are promoted and enforced among patrons.
  • Assist in training, developing, and providing feedback to program staff as delegated by the Programs Coordinator.
  • Work with the Programs Coordinator to ensure programs align with customer needs and expectations.
  • Assist in class allocations for children and coaches on a term basis, as needed.
  • Support marketing and promotion efforts for dry programs.
  • Liaise with stadium user groups and assist with stadium bookings and monthly invoicing.
  • Perform direct service delivery, which may require early mornings, evenings, or weekend work.
  • Ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures relevant to this position.
  • Perform other duties as deemed reasonable and appropriate to the role.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Fitness (minimum) and experience in the fitness industry.
  • Pool Lifeguard
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • CPR Qualification.

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of gymnastics and program levels.
  • Experience with soccer programs.
  • Several years of experience in a customer service environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with staff and patrons.
  • A strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant technologies.
  • Flexibility to work morning, evening, and weekend shifts as required by program demands.
  • A high level of integrity, responsibility, respect for others, and innovation.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
