About the Role: We are seeking an experienced PMO Operations Lead to join our Corporate Services Directorate at the City of Greater Geelong. In this role, you’ll ensure effective project planning and delivery frameworks are established, transparent, and consistently applied across the organisation. You will be responsible for developing and improving project tools, templates, and learning resources, enabling the successful execution of projects aligned with our strategic priorities.

Classification: Band 8 $115,035 - $127,911 pa plus super
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement best practices in governance processes, ensuring consistent information flow across key project forums.
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve reporting dashboards, tools, and templates to enhance project data accuracy and timeliness.
- Engage and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing clear project status updates, risk assessments, and milestone tracking to the Executive Leadership team.
- Facilitate innovation and drive best practices across the Corporate PMO, pushing boundaries to deliver customer-centric project outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and guide your team to achieve strategic goals, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and accountability.
- Align department activities to business plans, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to relevant policies and governance mechanisms.
Key Skills Required:
Education and Experience:
- Required: A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant professional project management and PMO experience in a comparable organisation.
- Desirable: Local government or public service sector experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Required:
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies, including PMBOK, Prince2, and Agile.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects with complex governance arrangements.
- Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills in working with complex internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build partnerships at all levels of an organisation to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Effective people leadership and management skills to foster high-functioning, engaged teams.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member/leader, often managing strict deadlines with competing priorities.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and practices related to project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in writing, presenting, and speaking to align with stakeholders and achieve outcomes.
- Well-developed problem-solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaboration and partnerships.
- Desirable:
- Experience in creating and managing PowerBI reporting dashboards and reports.
- Experience in facilitating and developing project management training or workshops.
- Knowledge of local government planning and delivery of capital projects.
- Ability to support and champion change.
