About the role
In this part-time (0.5 FTE), 12-month fixed-term role, you will assist with the implementation of healthy food policies and practice improvements to support the availability of healthier food options in City of Greater Geelong facilities. Your responsibilities will include collecting Point of Sale data, conducting venue assessments and audits of physical environments, and supporting communication strategies.
Work type: Temporary Part Time (0.5FTE) – 12 month fixed term
Classification: Band 5 $78,646 - $89,215 pa plus super (Pro Rata)
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with the implementation of the promoting CHANGE (Community Health and Nutrition, and Government Engagement) project which aims to increase community access to healthy food options in Council owned facilities and settings.
- Engage with facility staff to implement and strengthen healthy food and drinks policy, practices and promotion.
- Support the collection of data for evaluation purposes. This includes capturing outlet/food environment changes, undertaking audits and collecting feedback from key stakeholders).
- Assist with preparing reports and presentations to key stakeholders.
- Participate in and contribute to Project Advisory Group meetings and Communities of Practice with project partners.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will have qualifications (or be in the process of obtaining) or relevant experience in Public Health, Health Promotion, or Nutrition. You will be confident in interacting with diverse groups, possess excellent attention to detail, strong problem solving and influencing skills and demonstrate a willingness to learn with a keen interest in research and evaluation.
Essential Experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification such as health promotion, public health, public health nutrition or dietetics or relevant field experience in a similar role.
- Satisfactory Working with Children Check.
- Knowledge of government population health policies related to increasing healthy eating.
- An understanding of health promotion principles and approaches to practice.
- Capacity to communicate in both written and oral forms including correspondence, presentations, report writing and business cases.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of health promotion, nutrition, obesity and behaviour change.
