About the role
Our team of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurses promote optimal child health in children under 6 years of age through developmental assessment, monitoring health, and providing an advisory, supportive, and educative primary health service to their families and caregivers.

This may be an ideal opportunity for Maternal Child Health students who are about to graduate as the City offers an excellent graduate programme.

Employment Type:

  • 1 x Permanent Part Time (0.6 – 0.8FTE)
  • 1 x Temporary Part Time (0.7FTE) through to April 2026
  • 1 x Temporary Part Time (0.6FTE) through to April 2026

Classification: MCHN Year 1 – 4 ($57.32 - $62.54 p/h) plus super & allowances

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a maternal and child health service delivered within the service program guidelines and standards.
  • Commitment to the provision of a quality service and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills.
  • Meet all requirements in respect to service agreements and relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the service by displaying team work.
  • Ensure that work practices reflect the organisational values and expected behaviours.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse Division One and Midwife with a post-graduate qualification in Child and Family Health nursing (minimum of Graduate Diploma if qualified in 1999 or later).
  • If qualified outside Victoria, completion, or willingness to complete, additional training to be eligible to practice in Victoria as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver the Victorian Maternal & Child Health program to a diverse range of families.
  • Well-developed communication skills including interpersonal and written skills.
  • General computer literacy – specific knowledge of CDIS MCH system or willingness to learn.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required under the current state government orders.
  • Candidates who are yet to graduate, will be required to provide a letter from their University, stating they have completed the requirements of the course prior to commencement.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Pre Employment Medical as part of the recruitment process.
