About the role
In this role, you will lead the Commercial Analysis team, build strategic networks across the organisation, and provide executive-level commercial advice. You will support the City’s strategic objectives by delivering rich commercial analysis that enhances service delivery and drives informed decision-making for maximum customer and community impact. 

Work type: Permanent Full Time 
Classification: SPL - $144,271 pa plus super 

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Championing the City’s efficiency and revenue programs by identifying and implementing initiatives that enhance operational performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Delivering tailored, commercial insights and strategic advice to executives and senior leaders that enable evidence-based decision-making, ensuring alignment with relevant frameworks.
  • Motivate and provide strong operational leadership to the Commercial Analysis team, fostering an inclusive, customer-focused, and accountable culture while elevating stakeholder management and technical acumen across the team. 
  • Offer professional, best-practice change management advice and solutions that align with the City’s Business Plan, legislative requirements, and policy frameworks.
  • Provide expert guidance to the team as a subject matter leader, strengthening capability through targeted training, coaching, and mentoring, with a focus on advancing both stakeholder engagement and technical excellence.
  • Track and report on performance against departmental goals, ensuring work remains aligned with the City’s key strategic priorities.

About you 
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant professional or tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, or a related field, along with substantial experience in a commercial analysis or similar role within a comparable organisation.

Essential Experience: 

  • Demonstrated people skills to support, influence, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders. 
  • A proven track record of stakeholder engagement, with the ability to navigate complexity and build strategic partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and practices related to ​local government service delivery. ​ 
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to apply commercial expertise to strategic decision making. 
  • Well-developed problem solving and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaboration and partnerships. 
  • A strategic mindset with a focus on both high-level planning and operational delivery.
  • A current Working with Children Check (employee).
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
