About the role
In this role, you will manage the Transport Unit’s Capital Works Program, oversee project budgets, and provide expert advice on traffic and transport matters. You’ll support funding applications, contribute to transport planning across the City, respond to complex stakeholder enquiries, and guide junior staff or consultants as needed.

Work type: Temporary full time (12 months)
Classification: Band 7 Commencing at $106,158 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, prioritise and project manage the Transport Units Capital Works Program and associated budget administration, including a 3 year schedule of works.
  • Prepare and provide status reports on Transport Unit projects.
  • Assist senior staff when required, in the development and implement of applications for external funding to implement Transport related infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering advice on matters such as, traffic and transport planning, car parking, engineering documentation, including drawings and specifications, traffic impact assessments and traffic management studies, relating to the Transport Unit.
  • Deliver an excellent customer experience in relation to matters concerning the City’s transport and traffic management, including the resolution of complex customer and stakeholder enquiries relating to the role.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in Civil Engineering and/or relevant qualification. You will have demonstrated experience in traffic engineering, with a strong understanding of engineering principles, road and drainage design, and civil works. In addition, you will bring proven project management experience, including the ability to deliver traffic infrastructure projects and programs on time and within budget.

Essential Experience:

  • Identifying and developing road safety and road improvement projects.
  • Project management experience, across all phase cycles from development to delivery, including management of multi-year programs.
  • Strong knowledge and skills to effectively apply the Local Government Act 1989, Road Safety Act and regulated regulations.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
