About the role
In this role, you will build and nurture strong partnerships across the organisation, ensuring that technology initiatives are closely aligned with business priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will leverage your exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to bridge the gap between business and IT, translating complex requirements into practical solutions. You will champion Agile ways of working, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and adaptability, while enabling teams to respond effectively to changing business needs and deliver high-quality initiatives with speed and confidence.

Work type: 2 year fixed-term contract.
Classification: Band 8, $125,701 + super.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the extensive stakeholder communication and engagement activities as a Business Partner and ambassador for IT and champion the Enterprise IT Strategy across the organisation.
  • Develop, implement and ensure best practice processes for conducting business analysis activities for complex projects comprising multiple integrated systems and processes.
  • Identify and document functional and non-functional business requirements in a concise, accurate, unambiguous and timely manner.
  • Provide strategic business analysis services, working closely with departments and undertaking enterprise analysis activities to help inform program decisions and priorities.
  • Lead and coordinate the activities and efforts of business analysts across multiple projects within the program.
  • Mentor and coach internal business analysts and stakeholders on best practices and to achieve agreed requirements in collaboration with managers.
  • Facilitate communication between the relevant departments, technology teams and support teams to ensure that business solutions are aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide expert advice on business process improvements and reengineering.
  • Support the Project Manager(s) through all phases of the project lifecycle, contributing to risk management identification and issues management.
  • Assist in Agile principles and practices, facilitating the transition from traditional to Agile methodologies.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have Business Analyst qualification and / or extensive experience in a Senior Business Analyst role.

Essential Experience:

  • Working knowledge of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) and Prince2 project management methodology
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
  • Ability to work with Agile project management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps)
  • Skills in value stream mapping and the ability to visualise and optimise end-to-end processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement best practice business analysis processes and build resource capability
  • Experience on high profile projects with multiple enterprise wide integrated and inter-related systems
  • Extensive experience identifying and documenting both business and system requirements on major ICT projects
  • Experience in business process redesign/re-engineering and implementation
  • Sound understanding of contemporary change management processes pertaining to complex ICT projects
  • Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills in an ICT environment working with complex and/or challenging internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively and influence across all levels of an organisation, including high level written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective people leadership and teamwork skills to support an environment for high-functioning, productive and engaged teams to operate.

Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
