The Head of Product Development will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through launch and post-launch analysis. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive product management experience, exceptional leadership, and a proven track record of successful product launches. Key responsibilities include shaping Flight Centre’s corporate technology strategy, building stakeholder relationships, and leading the Corporate Technology SWOT team.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO) ANZ, this role manages the corporate Product Management and Engineering functions, focusing on daily operations, strategic planning, and technology delivery in the ANZ market.  

This role will start as a 12 month contract with the possibility of extension.

Your Responsibilities:  

Leadership: 

• Ability to lead, motivate and develop the product management and engineering (PM&E) team 

• Contribute to the process of setting performance goals/objectives, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria 

• Conduct regular performance reviews 

• Set the example for proactively building working relationships within the team and other stakeholders 

Product Management and Product Development: 

• Oversee the end-to-end product development process, including concept, design, development, testing, and launch 

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, sales, etc.) to ensure alignment and successful product delivery 

• Maintain and drive the product lifecycle management framework for internal and external customers and users 

• Champions the importance and value of product management principles/culture and appropriate product development models  

• Champion user-centred design and secure organisational commitment to significant user involvement in research to achieve a deep understanding of their current and future needs. 

Emerging Technology / Innovation 

• Plan and lead the identification and assessment of new and emerging technologies and the evaluation of the potential impacts, threats and opportunities 

• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform product development strategies 

 
Customer Focus 

• Engage with customers to gather feedback and understand their needs and preferences 

• Ensure customer feedback is integrated into the product development process 

• Engage with customers with the business to support sales, retention, and incident management 

 
Strategy and Planning 

• Contribute to and implement the product development vision and strategy in conjunction with CPO and CTO, aligned with the company’s overall business objectives 

Who You Are: 

• Undergraduate or MBA degree in Business or Technology (desirable – not mandatory) 

• Travel industry experience 

• Agile methodology and delivery experience 

• Product Management, Product Delivery or Engineering experience 

• Leadership experience
