About The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer – Asia, the Finance Director, Japan is accountable for accurate reporting of financial results and managing the company’s financial affairs for FCM Japan. Serving as a business partner, advisor, and key contributor to the local leadership team in the development of long-range strategies and short-term goals through sound business insight and financial information, collaborating collectively across other departments.  This is accomplished by providing financial reporting, business analysis, insight, recommendations, plans and forecasts.

Key duties & responsibilities:

• Have responsibility and oversight for the month-end closing process and managing the team to deliver an on time, accurate and compliant set of accounts.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all Group financial reporting requirements for Japan
• Ensure robust internal controls are in place and enforce the firm’s financial policies
• Maintain compliance with both Japanese GAAP and IFRS standards for reporting and managing variances.
• Manage all other financial aspects of the legal entities including, Auditory and Taxation & Insurance
• Have overview and responsibility for the preparation of Statutory Accounts
• Improve Accounting processes to achieve operational optimization
• Meet the reporting timetable for the region
• Provide information to support business decisions
• Partner with the FP&A teams across the region
• Manage all core Technical Accounting
• Be the key contact person for our banking partners
• For any project: to provide all aspects of financial reporting, internal control and systems development

We’d love to hear from you if you have...

• 3-6 years of relevant experience in an audit “Big Four”, reporting or finance controller role
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Fluent in both written and spoken Japanese and English.
• Previous experience(s) with international exposure is desirable
• Accountancy Qualifications (e.g. CPA or equivalent) which demonstrate an accounting technical knowledge in Japanese GAAP and IFRS
• Good attention to detail, analytical & numerate. Ability to analyse data
• Strong knowledge of Japanese local regulations
• People-centric, driven by a desire to make a significant positive impact with high levels of integrity and consistency
• Team building and leadership qualities
• Proactive mindset to build new process and share ideas for improvement
• Proven track record
• Advanced Microsoft Excel usage and good knowledge of and Microsoft Bi
• Experience in Sun 6 back-office is a plus
