Ignite Travel Industry is seeking an Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Cruise to support the Global Head of Cruise in leading the strategic and operational direction of the company’s cruise division across Australia and New Zealand. This leadership role involves overseeing cruise sales, customer service, operations, and marketing, while also contributing to the financial performance and growth of the business. The AGM will play a key role in building the cruise retail brand (online and product-based), driving revenue and profit, and enhancing overall customer satisfaction. Industry expertise and strong leadership skills are essential.

A day in the life:

 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive cruise business growth
  • Monitor market trends and set objectives and KPIs for performance tracking
  • Oversee daily cruise operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance
  • Manage relationships with cruise partners on contracts, pricing, and inventory
  • Lead sales and marketing efforts to boost bookings and brand visibility
  • Expand distribution through travel agents and strategic partnerships
  • Drive exceptional customer experience and resolve escalated issues
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing cruise team
  • Manage budgets, analyze financial performance, and optimize profitability
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety, health, and environmental regulations

 

Who you are:

  • 7–10 years of experience in the cruise or travel industry
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Proven success in managing operations, sales, and customer experience
  • In-depth knowledge of cruise operations and industry partnerships
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Skilled in adapting to market changes and leading through transitions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, or related field
  • Experience in budget management and financial analysis
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance standards in cruise/travel
