About The Opportunity

The Corporate Transactional Finance Lead will assist the Head of Transactional Finance (HOTF) with process improvements, efficiency, and accuracy within the Transactional Finance (TF) department focusing on the Corporate pillar.

The Corporate TF Lead plays a critical role in managing the financial health and operational efficiency of the Corporate brands and takes full ownership of the TF operational teams and the various financial systems that support the Corporate brands. 

This position combines accounting expertise with operational insights to ensure accurate financial reporting in line with FCTG Group Accounting Policies, effective control, and streamlined processes. The role involves working closely with various departments to support day-to-day operations, stepping in to support the TF department leads when the need arises. Additionally, this role focuses on optimizing financial processes, driving automation, supporting data analysis, managing strategic initiatives system upgrades and training and collaborating with teams to enhance financial performance.

The successful candidate will be the owner of process excellence within the TF corporate pillar in RSA and the role will evolve in response to the changing needs of the business. Success in this role depends on someone who is detail-oriented yet capable of seeing the bigger picture, flexible and eager to learn, while also offering feedback on areas for improvement. Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management:

  • Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking reconciliations, foreign exchange uploads, credit card reconciliations, declined transactions and general ledger entries.
  • Support Team Leaders with the daily operations including system issues.
  • Provide an overview of risk in the area including a monthly unchecked review and aged items review with commentary.
  • Support with operational exceptions clearance (un-allocated amounts) and AR and AP reconciliations as needed
  • Assist with debt collection efforts where required.
  • Support with large value payment authorisations and any payment queries.
  • Support with any operational query understanding the accounting implications.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and cash reconciliations templates as required by GFR.

Process Improvement & Optimization:

  •  Process Improvement: Analyse current processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose solutions to optimize workflows.
  •  Automation & Systems: Drive automation using system capabilities, collaborating with offshore and global teams to simplify and automate processes.
  • Systems expert: Ensure that you are the system expert for all related TF functions, partake in testing and upgrades and coordinate with the great TF Team when their input is needed.
  • Project Coordination: Participate in and support TF process improvement projects from start to finish.
  • Change Management: Help implement new processes and tools, providing training and support for smooth adoption.
  • Performance Tracking: Assist in developing and tracking KPIs to measure the success of process changes.
  • Documentation: Maintain process documentation, such as process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Stakeholder & Team Support:

  • Support Teams: Assist both onshore and offshore teams servicing various corporate brands.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and foster relationships across the business, Work with key stakeholders to ensure process improvements align with business needs and strategic initiatives are implemented.
  • Support & Query Management: Handle support queries via Freshdesk/Salesforce and resolve issues within the TF team.
  • System Expertise: Serve as the go-to person for operational leaders, coordinating query resolution within the TF team.
  • Serve as a liaison between the finance team and operational departments.
  • Present financial insights and operational metrics to management.

Data & Financial Reporting:

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Serve as a liaison between the finance team and operational departments. Analysing project ROIs and other data metrics and present these insights to management.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly KPI reports and ensure correct accounting of financial transactions

Leadership:

  • Professional Development: Serve as a support to direct reports ensuring regular 1:1’s are held with a focus on continuous development and improvement. 
  • Team Motivation: Recognize, Inspire, influence, motivate and develop the overall TF Corporate team.
  • Focus days: Host focus days for the Corporate TF team and ensure strategic objectives are included.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting procedures.
  • High proficiency with financial software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English.
  • Proven track record working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to resolve complicated queries.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Customer service orientation, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Accurate, deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and effective time management.
  • Ability to reconcile complex statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in working with multiple systems and a willingness to learn.
  • Logical problem-solving approach.
  • Team player with a focus on achieving team goals.

Qualifications

CA (SA) with 3+ years of experience or equivalent qualifications with 7+ years in a finance role.
