Purpose of the Business Development Manager role: 

Reports to Sales Director, FCTG Independent

The role of the Business Development Manager (BDM) is focused on new business acquisition. Our BDMs implement strategies and processes to develop relationships with key decision makers in independently owned travel agencies, creating new sales opportunities via means of networking, customer profiling, cold calling, social channels, email, and local marketing/events.  This role is based in Sydney. 

Business Development

  • Regularly meet with new leads
  • Ensure meaningful customer connections and activity
  • Work with marketing team to strengthen with new lead generation
  • Acquire new Independent Agents and Agencies in accordance with set targets
  • Create credibility and trust through consultative sales, presenting a professional image
  • Utilise Salesforce to record customer activity and management of opportunities to maintain data integrity
  • Build and leverage networks for opportunity and acquisition, including development relationships with key suppliers and industry bodies, internally within FCTG and from existing agencies - deliver on referral targets

Sales Process

  • Identify, co-ordinate and engage stakeholders
  • Understand competitor offerings and FCTG Independent’s differentiators
  • Negotiate mutually agreeable outcomes whilst optimising margin and profitability
  • Qualify customers’ needs, including commercials, product, and service requirements
  • Ensure brand standards are upheld and that CVPs and market proposition are clear and persuasive
  • Present FCTG Independent products and services in a compelling way to maximise travel spend and profitability

What we're looking for

  • Ability to travel when required
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM
  • Consistent high performance in relation to reaching sales targets
  • Understanding of Travel Agency processes and the travel supplier landscape
  • Minimum four (4) years in a BDM role within the travel industry, resulting in established strong relationships with independent travel agencies nationally
