The Role

Senior Project Engineer with construction industry experience to assist in the delivery of the BlueScope project in Port Kembla. This role reports directly into the Project Manager and will work closely with Supervisors and Leading Hands onsite ensuring prompt project delivery.

Permanent, full-time role with standard construction site hours.

The Project Manager will provide support to this role, which involves closely collaborating with on-site personnel to ensure timely project delivery and high-quality work. Training will be provided as necessary.

The ideal candidate should possess experience or exposure to remedial works, to ensure adherence to client expectations, company objectives, and contractual obligations.

In addition to working with a skilled and efficient team, the selected candidate will have continuous project exposure, facilitating the further development of technical and project management skills. Exceptional performance will create opportunities for career advancement into senior project positions

This role includes a vehicle and fuel card as part of the package.

Works will include:

  • Wharf deck demolition and repair
  • Removal of Front Service Duct (FSD) using a combination of hydro-demolition and wire sawing, followed by FSD replacement
  • Installation of an impressed current cathodic protection system
  • Methodology for FSD formwork and concrete pouring
  • Extension of the existing wharf with a berth expansion

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop project-specific documentation, including technical, safety, environmental, and quality deliverables.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the project delivery team, ensuring achievement of project objectives and monitoring performance through KPI tracking.
  • Proactively inspect and ensure project activities conform to specifications, drawings, and QSE standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager in directing construction, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Guide surveying activities for construction guidance and assess quantities/costs for project feasibility.
  • Analyze survey reports and resolve issues using correct processes (TQs/RFI).
  • Contribute innovative constructability options and foster positive teamwork for safe and compliant operations.
  • Perform regular quality audits, oversee construction activities, and maintain current project documents.
  • Assist in tender preparation, coordinate internal processes, and manage project controls.
  • Coordinate QAQC testing activities for specification compliance and participate in accurate surveying.
  • Monitor procurement activities to meet commercial and quality objectives.
  • Manage project administration tasks, including cost recording and reporting.
  • Administer procurement according to SRG standards and guidelines.
  • Proactively manage the project schedule, report milestones, and assess resource deficiencies.
  • Prepare recommendations for project variations, including cost estimates and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure site-specific, relevant QA documents are implemented to an acceptable standard.
  • Develop and maintain inspection test plans and traceability procedures.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers and subcontractors and report Non-Conformances for effective closure.
  • Maintain SRG IMS processes and serve as key persons for internal and external audits, addressing issues promptly.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Previous experience in a similar industry/role
  • Previous remediation experience desirable
  • Strong computer skills MS Office suite
  • Previous project coordination experience
  • Strong communication and planning skills
  • Demonstrated experience in effective HSQE management
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, AutoCAD and Jobpac are desirable.
