The Role
Seeking a Safety Coordinator to support our Civil division for upcoming civil projects on the East Coast of Australia.
As the Safety Coordinator, you'll play a key role in ensuring a safe working environment for our onsite Civil Construction team. Responsibilities include overseeing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and fostering a culture of compliance.
FIFO 2:1 from Sydney, Melbourne or Perth will be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure employees are undertaking activities safely and to the highest level of quality as per Project requirements.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas in conjunction with operational personnel.
- Address site safety concerns and problems and recommend solutions to key personnel.
- Provide safety and quality event management advice and support to site personnel.
- Lead and run investigations of site safety and quality events from end to end.
- Maintain knowledge of all industry applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies.
- Collaboration with Management in the development of project risk assessments.
- Provide guidance and support to site personnel as required for the development and review of team-based risk assessments.
- Assist with identifying, developing, conducting and improving health, safety and quality training and orientation programs to educate project employees on health, safety and quality risks within the business.
- Report activities as required to the Project Manager.
- Attend and contribute to the scheduled Safety meetings with our client and within the group.
- Assist Project personnel with Injury Management and RTW in consultation with the Group Injury Management Business Partner.
- Facilitate internal training programs as required.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role
- Previous experience in the construction industry
- Cert IV in WHS/OHS (minimum)
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment (desired)
- Internal Auditor Qualification
- Australian Drivers license
- Proven Experience in leading Investigation Training
- Strong communication and people skills
- Strong computer and systems skills and knowledge
