Our Maternal and Child Health service is the largest in Victoria, with a multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding care to support child health, wellbeing and development.
This position works across multiple Casey sites within the Enhanced Program to provide a flexible child centred and family focussed service to promote the quality of life and independence of children aged 0-6 years who are in Out of Home Care or experiencing vulnerability to access timely Key Age and Stage visits, assessments and referrals to supports and early years programs.
The Enhanced Maternal and Child Health program is supported by a multidisciplinary team who work collaboratively in supporting families. Practitioners are supported by a leadership team who value the unique skills and strengths required to work within the Enhanced Program and supports development of the workforce through ongoing education and training opportunities.

A bit about the role
As part of our Maternal and Child Health Enhanced team, work in partnership with families experiencing vulnerability who are facing a range of challenges including social isolation, mental health, drug and alcohol concerns, family violence and child protection involvement, and support them to achieve positive outcomes.
This includes supporting child health, well-being and development through in-home visits, provision of evidence -based information, support, advice and appropriate referrals.
What you’ll deliver
- Assess, monitor, and promote the health, growth, development, and behaviour of young children 0-6 years in Out of Home Care and children not currently engaged with the universal MCH program including physical, social, emotional and intellectual status
- Work with carers and services who are supporting children in Out of Home Care to ensure that children are engaged with the MCH service and where appropriate support these children to enrol in kinder programs or relevant community supports and services
- Client focussed care with diverse and vulnerable families
- Counselling and support in a non-judgmental environment for individuals and families
- Maintain accurate records of children within City of Casey in the Out of Home Care Program and work collaboratively with key stakeholders
What you’ll bring

- Established experience, with a minimum of 2 years as a Maternal and Child Health Nurse supporting families
- An empathetic and evidence-based approach
- Current AHPRA Registration as Division 1 Nurse and Midwife
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Child & Family Health as recognised in Victoria to practice in Maternal and Child Health
- Valid Victorian drivers licence
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History, Working with Children, Eligibility to Work and Functional Assessment
