• Band 7 salary range: $108,935k to $121,897 plus Super (subject to experience) and monthly RDO for full time 40-hour weeks

A bit about the role
As the Strategic Security & Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering proactive security strategies that protect our staff, Councillors, and community. You’ll work closely with internal teams, emergency services, and contracted providers to ensure a consistent, high-quality approach to safety across libraries, youth centres, customer service counters, community hubs, Council meetings, and more.
 
What you’ll deliver
• Provide strategic oversight of safety and security operations across Council sites
• Deliver targeted training in conflict management, incident response, and emergency procedures
• Conduct security risk audits and support critical incident investigations
• Develop and implement proactive strategies to reduce physical and psychological risks
• Coordinate emergency and security responses with Victoria Police and other partners
• Oversee security technologies (CCTV, access control, duress alarms) and contractor performance
• Contribute to business continuity planning and after-hours response protocols
• Support People & Culture with safety planning for complex people matters 
 
About You 
You are a confident communicator and trusted advisor with a strong background in security and risk management. You thrive in dynamic environments and are passionate about building a culture of safety and preparedness.
• Tertiary qualifications in Security, Risk, Emergency Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
• A current and valid Security Licence
• Demonstrated experience in multi-site security strategy and risk assessments
• Strong knowledge of OH&S legislation, privacy laws, and protective security frameworks
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A current Victorian Driver’s Licence, willing to undertake National Criminal History Check, and Working with Children Check
• A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
