A bit about the role
We're looking for a passionate and strategic leader to guide Council’s social policy and planning initiatives, driving positive outcomes for the Casey community.
As Team Leader Health and Social Policy, you'll lead the development and implementation of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, using data and evidence-based research to shape policies, services, and infrastructure.
You'll work across departments to embed a culture of social planning, anticipate emerging community needs, and provide advice on complex social issues. This is a unique opportunity to influence long-term change and help build a thriving, resilient, and equitable community.
What you’ll deliver
- Undertake an integrated planning approach to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and associated strategies.
- Embed a culture of social planning across Council including policy and strategic Position Description partnerships, service development, infrastructure and land use planning.
- Coordinate strategic, evidence-based activities and engagements to develop or inform Council policies, programs, services and infrastructure provision in the City of Casey.
- Lead the demographics and population forecasting portfolio of Council to provide reliable and coordinated data sets that inform decision making.
- Play a lead or support role as required to investigate, understand, and respond to the current and future social needs of the community which may include social impact assessments, social infrastructure, gaming, liquor, and affordable housing, and other complex social issues.
- Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and strategic understanding of Casey’s community and their needs now and into the future.
What you’ll bring
- A tertiary qualification in planning, health, social science, health promotion or an alternative qualification and / or relevant experience.
- Thorough knowledge of social planning issues and theories, methodologies and practice
- Demonstrated experience in successfully facilitating, developing, and delivering policies, strategies and projects that increase positive community outcomes.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in leading staff to achieve outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to deliver collaborative outcomes and productive realisations with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound understanding and experience in applying local, state and federal policies and legislation. Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
