A bit about the role
Lead and implement multi-phase infrastructure projects: This includes liaising with external authorities, ensuring project readiness, and developing and executing project delivery plans.
Provide strategic direction and expert advice: Offer guidance on civil design proposals, oversee project managers, support the Civil Design team leader, and manage external consultants throughout the design phases.
What you’ll deliver
- Ensure effective delivery of capital works programs, including roads and recreational facilities, and provide technical guidance.
- Plan and implement capital works projects, including readiness checks and project delivery plans.
- Lead in-house design projects, administer the Special Charge Scheme, and develop and maintain council standards and specifications.
- Ensure team members have clear work objectives, regular reviews, feedback, and are engaged in the performance review process. Model behaviours consistent with Council values.
- Proactively build relationships to support the planning and delivery of the Capital Works Program, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to communicate and promote innovative and sustainable ideas,
What you’ll bring
- Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant equivalent qualification.
- Eligibility for Professional Engineering Registration (RP Eng.) required.
- Experience in similar capacity roles within local government or similar organisational setup.
- Project Management and operational experience and procurement knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements.
- Proven experience in leading multiple stakeholders to deliver complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
